Smittybilt XRC12 12,000 Pound Winch

As we all know, Smittybilt has been around for ages…more than 50 years.  The legend begins with a humble man by the name of Basil “Smitty” Smith.  Smitty is a man who was one of the original lovers of the off road.  It was an age where there was peace in the world at last and as a result of that peace, there were tons of surplus army Jeeps that were being transformed into street machines.  That said, some people – like our man Smitty – saw the potential for the rigs to be used on the trails, dunes, boulders and anything else that wasn’t paved. 

Anyway, Smitty saw that there was a need for various parts and accessories and that those particular products were not being made – by anyone.  He started a small machine shop in his home garage and called it Rock-ett Products.  In this shop he made the parts and accessories that he saw the need for.  His son Tom grew up in the business and when he took it over in the 70s he changed the name to Smittybilt.  They are now a world renowned company that manufactures and distributes more than 2,000 parts and accessories for Jeeps, trucks and SUVs.

The new versions of the Smittybilt XRC winches have had a thorough upgrade performed on them.  They have had heavy duty features incorporated so that you get both a durability and a performance that is enhanced.  These winches are available with capacities ranging from 9,500 pounds all the way up to 17,500 pounds and as such can get you out of any type of sticky situation that you may get yourself into. 

This winch features a planetary gear with 3 stages as well as a 6.6 hp motor that is series wound.  The gear ratios have been revised so that you get more power for pulling as well as line speeds that will blow your mind.  The winch has been finished with a matte black coating that is resistant to UV rays.  Additionally, all of the hardware is made from stainless steel and the crossbars are made from aluminum.  Put all of this together and you get a winch that will last you nearly forever while looking great!

Each XRC winch comes with a winch controller that is heavy duty as well as a roller fairlead that is 4 way.  You will also get a tow hook made from forged steel as well as a solenoid box that has been redesigned and is able to be mounted in 3 different positions making this one of the most versatile winches around.
